The meshes in expanded metal are made by means of staggered cuts that are subsequently stretched with no loss of material.
The form of the meshes is normally rhombic but more shapes are available, such as hexagonal, oblong and rounded. The size of the meshes varies from very small meshes 6 x 3 mm suitable for filters, to very large meshes 200 x 75 mm often used for architectural applications.
The materials most often utilised for RMIG Expanded Metal are mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel, but we also offer in other materials (brass, copper, titanium, zinc, etc).
At RMIG, the length and width of a sheet and the size of a mesh are always described according to the pictures on the right.
L = Length of sheet
W = Width of sheet
a = Length of mesh
b = Width of mesh
c = Width of rib
d = Thickness of rib
Description of RMIG Expanded Metal
Expanded metal is, to all intents and purposes, a strong net made by cutting and expanding a sheet.
