Aluminium

Aluminium is particularly suitable because of its weight advantages: it is only one-third the weight of steel. It is also quite resistant to corrosion, even in an untreated condition.

The wide range of available alloys extends the application possibilities in high-tech segments. Some alloys, such as 5005 – AlMg1, are especially suitable for anodising, improving corrosion resistance and bringing colour to the final product, from a natural silver appearance through various colours to black.

The advantages of anodising are
  • Improved corrosion resistance
  • Low fingerprint sensitivity
  • Wide range of decorative applications
  • Scratch resistance for high value products
  • Superb colour stability

Environmental aspects

Utilising aluminium is also suitable from the environmental point of view, because it can be easily recycled and re-melted to produce something new. As recycling does not damage the metal's structure, aluminium can be recycled 100 %, without any loss of its natural qualities.

Choice of alloys for architectural applications, decorative purposes and visual parts

For facades, where guaranteed colour uniformity between several production batches is required, high end raw material alloys may be obligatory. RMIG uses its purchasing power world wide, sourcing raw materials from mills and suppliers, which ensures a colour uniformity for anodised products on pre anodised coils, strip, sheets and products that are anodised after perforation.
